<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable type steering mechanism and a steering angle variable type steering device maintaining vehicle mountability by suppressing elongation of an axial direction length of the variable type steering mechanism including a ball reduction gear. <P>SOLUTION: A lock mechanism 80 includes a solenoid 81 having a linearly movable plunger 84 arranged at a position opposed to the outer peripheral surface of an intermediate rotating cylinder 20 and orthogonal to the central axis α of an input shaft 18, a slide bearing 85 slidably supporting the plunger 84, and an electromagnetic coil 86 applying electromagnetic force to the plunger 84. An engaging part 53 preventing rotation of the intermediate rotating cylinder 20 by engagement of a distal end part of the plunger 84 is provided on the outer peripheral surface of the intermediate rotating cylinder 20.
