<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the damage of an electrolyte membrane as much as possible with a simple structure. Ž<P>SOLUTION: As for a unit cell 12 constituting the water electrolysis equipment 10, an electrolyte membrane-electrode structure 32 is held between an anode side separator 34 and a cathode side separator 36. The electrolyte membrane-electrode structure 32 includes a cathode side feed conductor 42 being in contact with the cathode side separator 36 and an anode side feed conductor 40 being in contact with the anode side separator 34, and a protective sheet member 44 where many through-holes 44a are formed is interposed between the anode side feed conductor 40 and a solid polymer electrolyte membrane 38.
