<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor control device which can suppress a rush current at the start of a motor, and can restrain the impairment of a rise of the torque of the motor. <P>SOLUTION: An inverter control part 7 generates drive signals Pu, Pv and Pw for driving each phase of an inverter 2 so that an inverter 2 generates rectangular wave voltages Vu, Vv and Vw at which the AC motor 1 can output a torque following an imparted torque command value Tr. At the start of the AC motor 1, the inverter control part 7 controls the AC motor so that the drive signal Pu has a prescribed duty ratio, and after the completion of control, the inverter control part controls the AC motor so that the drive signal Pv has a prescribed duty ratio.
