<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate hydroxy radicals without producing toxic gas for disinfecting and deodorizing the clothes within a washing tub. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The washing/drying machine includes: a circulation air passage 43 connected and communicating with the washing tub; a blowing means for circulating air within the washing tub through the circulation air passage 43; a dehumidifying means for cooling and dehumidifying air flowing through the circulation air passage 43; and a heating means for heating air flowing through the circulation air passage 43. The washing/drying machine further includes an electrostatic atomizing device 50. The electrostatic atomizing device 50 is composed of: a discharge electrode 52 made of a porous material having water absorbency, water retentivity and water sucking characteristics, and disposed in such a way that the front end projects into the circulation air passage 43; a water retaining material 53 formed of a porous material having water retentivity for feeding retained water to the discharge electrode 52; a water feeding means for feeding water to the water retaining material 53; and high voltage applying means 54 and 58 for negatively charging the discharge electrode 52 with electricity by applying negative high voltage to the discharge electrode 52.
