METHODS OF CONDUCTING WIRELESS TRANSACTIONS AND SYSTEMS THEREFOR

In one aspect transactions between mobile devices and transaction computers are conducted via a mobile transaction server employing an adaptor between each transaction computer and the mobile transaction server. An application running on a wireless mobile device may be configured by constructing configuration information for the application at the server, sending the configuration information to the mobile device via a wireless link, and using the configuration information to configure the application for operation with the transaction computer. An application running on a wireless mobile device may also be configured by submitting the current configuration version of a wireless mobile device for a transaction computer to a server via a wireless link, comparing the submitted configuration version with a current server configuration version for the transaction computer and, if the configuration versions match, notifying the wireless mobile device that its current configuration is valid; or, if the configuration versions for the wireless mobile device and server don't match, then sending current configuration information for the server to the wireless mobile device. A transaction form on a mobile device may be rendered by running a resident application by downloading rendering information over a wireless link and running the application using the rendering information to dynamically render the form according to the rendering information.
