The invention relates to a method for detecting ovarian cancer in a subject using a biological sample comprising genomic DNA isolated from the subject. According to the invention, the method comprises the steps of: determining the methylation status of a CpG dinucleotide in a target sequence that is selected from the group consisting of the target sequences as referred to by name in Table 1 in a biological sample isolated from a subject; and deducing from the determined methylation status of the target sequence whether the subject has ovarian cancer.
