PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polylactic acid resin foamed particle to efficiently produce a polylactic acid resin foamed particle for in-mold expansion molding by reducing the number of adhesion of the polylactic acid resin foamed particle. SOLUTION: This method for producing a polylactic acid resin foamed particle for in-mold expansion molding includes a step for feeding a polylactic acid resin composition which contains a polylactic acid resin and a thickener and has viscosity of 4,900-20,000 Pa s at 180°C to an extruder, then melting and kneading it in the presence of a foaming agent; a step for extruding the polylactic acid resin through a nozzle die 1 to obtain an extrudate, and cutting the polylactic acid resin extrudate with a rotary blade 5 into a particle while foaming to obtain a polylactic acid resin foamed particle, and scattering the polylactic acid resin foamed particle by cutting stress; and a step for making the polylactic acid resin foamed particle collide with a cooling member 4 disposed in front of the nozzle die 1 to cool.
