PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water conditioner which can reduce discard water as much as possible. SOLUTION: The water conditioner includes a discard water alarm display means for prompting a user to discard water for a predetermined time for starting to take in water, an alarm display control means for making the discard water alarm display means display an alarm at a time according to a time period elapsing until water is taken in again since the stop of the water intake and a kind of water to be taken in again, and a detention and drainage means capable of selectively performing detention treatment for detention of water in an electrolytic cell and drainage treatment for draining the water in the electrolytic cell. When taking in water again after the stop of the water intake, if drainage of the electrolytic cell is completed by the detention and drainage means and the elapsed time is within a predetermined set time, the alarm display control means does not perform the alarm display by the discard water alarm display means.
