The cylinder (1) has a roller (5) arranged at a holding device (2). Another roller (6) is arranged parallel to the former roller in the holding device. A closed felt strip (7) is extended over the two rollers or tensioned at the two rollers. The latter roller is distanced from the former roller. The strip is made of textile material or felt-like material. The holding device has left and right arms, and the two rollers are supported between the arms. One of the rollers is bend elastic around longitudinal axes, which are provided transverse to a longitudinal direction of the rollers. An independent claim is also included for a method for press-polishing the foil, which is glued on the uneven surface of the body part of the motor vehicle.
