<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of switching the power level of a light emission waveform in a laser driving device. <P>SOLUTION: A recording waveform control signal pattern is stored in a light emission level pattern storage part 230. The light emission level pattern storage part 230 includes register sets 231_1 and 231_2, a register set 231_0 for selectively storing setting information stored in the register sets 231_1 and 231_2, and a storage information control part 236 which selects the setting information stored in the register sets 231_1 and 231_2 and making them stored in the register set 231_0. A reset pulse generation part 210 generates a reset pulse RP from a reset signal RS. An edge pulse generation part 220 generates an edge pulse EP from an edge signal ES. A selection pulse generation part 280A generates a selection pulse MC when the edges of the edge signal ES continue with the edge of the reset pulse RP therebetween.
