METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ENCODING AND DECODING AUDIO SIGNAL USING ADAPTIVE SINUSOIDAL PULSE CODING

PURPOSE: A method for encoding and decoding an audio signal using adaptive sinusoidal pulse coding and a device thereof are provided to increase quality of combined signals using sinusoidal pulse coding. CONSTITUTION: An input unit(204) receives a converted audio signal. An operating unit(206) divides the converted audio signal into a plurality of sub bands. The operating unit computes energy of the sub bands. The operating unit selects a fixed number of sub bands with relatively large energy among the sub bands. A coding unit(208) performs sinusoidal pulse coding about the selected sub bands.
