PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing highly homogeneous fine particles which have a uniform shape and do not vary much in dimensions and novel fine particles whose dimensions, shape and fused state and the like can be controlled. SOLUTION: The method for producing the fine particles includes: an irregularity forming stage of forming on one surface of a base material an irregular pattern made by arranging a plurality of projecting portions based on the surface; a fine particle forming stage of forming fine particles made of a fine particle material on at least part of the irregular pattern; and a fine particle releasing stage of releasing the formed fine particles from the irregular pattern.
