摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a shock load input to a supporting bracket when a column tube is moved up to a telescopic stroke end, prevent an occupant performing a telescopic adjustment in a stroke region having a high degree of repetition from feeling unpleasant sensation and further reduce any unpleasant feeling received by the occupant at the telescopic stroke end. SOLUTION: A lock means capable of performing a telescopic adjustment comprises a shaft 51 and a lock-cam-unit 54. The lock-cam-unit is set to a semi-lock operating region where a column side bracket 33 is frictionally engaged with a supporting bracket by a high frictional engagement force larger than a low frictional engagement force kept under unlocked state and made such a semi-lock state as to be movable in the column axial direction. There are provided driving mechanisms (protrusions 33a2, 33b2 arranged at the column side bracket 33 and protrusions 51b3, 51b4 arranged at the shaft 51) for use in driving the lock-cam-unit to a semi-lock operating region only when the column axial rear ends of the telescopic longitudinal holes 33a1, 33b1 approach to the shaft 51.
