PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for providing a separate cleansing device and to make it unnecessary to perform the attaching operation and detaching operation of a developer supply device in the case of a cleaning operation. SOLUTION: The wet type developing apparatus is configured such that a developing roller 2 is in rotational contact with a photoreceptor drum 1 and an electrostatic latent image formed on the surface of the photoreceptor drum is developed with a liquid developer 6 supplied onto the developing roller from a developer supply roller 3 whose surface is partly immersed in the liquid developer, includes cleansing devices 7, 8, disposed in a developer tank 5 storing the liquid developer, and at a position always immersed in the liquid developer for cleaning the portion of the developer supply roller which is immersed in the liquid developer.
