PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber which is manufactured simply and economically and in which stimulated Brillouin scattering is suppressed. SOLUTION: The optical fiber includes a core part 10, having a refractive index larger than that of a clad part 11, and the mode-field radius of light is made larger than the radius of the core part 10; the overlapped integration of the electric field distribution of light and the acoustic wave basic mode distribution is reduced; and thus the stimulated Brillouin scattering is suppressed.
