PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce latency required for descriptor transfer without increasing capacity of a high-speed accessible descriptor storage part, provided separately from a main memory. SOLUTION: A processor 2 stores a descriptor in the main memory 5 or a descriptor storage unit 12 that is provided separately from the main memory to store the descriptor, and issues an instruction to a descriptor transfer device 1 about the storage from which the descriptor is read. The descriptor transfer device 1 reads the descriptor from the main memory 5 or the descriptor storage part 12 according to the instruction from the processor 2, and transfers the read descriptor to an I/O controller 3.
