<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automate a seal oil float trap (107) bypass for a hydrogen-cooled generator (100). <P>SOLUTION: An automated bypass system (300) is coupled to an existing manual bypass system (200) in a float trap (107) for the hydrogen-cooled generator (100). The automated bypass system (300) includes: at least one solenoid valve (302); and a control device (105) which controls opening and closing of the solenoid valve (302). The automated bypass system (300) may also include a manual valve (203), an orifice (301) and a limit switch (304). The control device (105) brings the solenoid valve (302) into operation to enable seal oil to be discharged.
