<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for tire tread, capable of making low fuel cost (low rolling resistance) and high abrasion resistance compatible with each other while having such excellent processability as to need no mastication step, to provide a pneumatic tire having a tread made using the composition, to provide a rubber composition for coating carcass cords, capable of improving the adhesive performance of the carcass cords and also capable of making high low fuel economy (low rolling resistance) and high rubber strength compatible with each other while having such high processability as to need no mastication step, further to provide a pneumatic tire having a carcass made using the latter composition. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The rubber composition is such that a rubber component containing 5 or more mass% of natural rubber 200 ppm or less in phosphorus content is compounded with carbon black and/or a white filler.
