<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling bearing unit for supporting wheel having an excellent and stable structure, capable of preventing the central axis of an inner ring from tilting for the central axis of a hub or preventing the roundness of a second inner ring track from becoming worse. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This rolling bearing unit is constituted by fitting the inner ring 3 into a step part 8 formed in an inner end of the hub 2b externally and butting an outer end face 28 of the inner ring 3 on a step face 12 formed on a hub 2b side to give a desired preload to each rolling element 5. The inner ring 3 is externally fitted into the hub 2b by tight-fitting for generating a stronger static fiction force than a thrust load to be applied on the inner ring 3 based on this preload. Then, an inner end face of the inner ring 3 is pressed down by a caulked part formed by caulking and widening a cylindrical part 18 provided in an inner end of the hub 2b outwardly in the direction of diameter.
