IMAGE READING APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus and an image forming apparatus that prevent occurrence of a black shadow originated in the thickness of a manuscript in the image reading apparatus that radiates light from a moving light source on the manuscript placed on a manuscript table to read images by scanning the manuscript, and to prevent occurrence of variations in light volume of each light source when a plurality of light sources are provided. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Two light sources opposedly arranged along the moving direction and a detection portion that detects light volume of each light source are provided.
