<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the frequency of the occurrence of error correction inability even when there are many data errors. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a data recorder/reproducer in order to solve the subject, the following technological means is adapted. When error correction becomes impossible in error correction by a first error correction code, a second error correction code is read to correct the error by the second error correction code. Since error correction by the second error correction code is possible even when the error correction by the first error correction code becomes impossible, the frequency of the occurrences of the error correction impossibility can be decreased.
