An optical information recording medium which comprises a base, a cover layer, and a first information layer arranged between the base and the cover layer, and which is so designed that the optical information recording medium is irradiated with a light beam from the cover layer side to record information on the first information layer and reproduce the information recorded in the first information layer, wherein the first information layer comprises a recording film and a protective film arranged between the recording film and the cover layer, and wherein the distance between the cover layer and the recording film is 0.5 to 12 nm inclusive.
