摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation control device for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine maintaining temperature of a deactivated cylinder side catalyst high during reduced cylinder operation and securing long execution period of the reduced cylinder operation in the multi-cylinder internal combustion engine capable of executing reduced cylinder operation. SOLUTION: When reduced cylinder operation execution conditions are satisfied, temperature of a catalytic converter 82L disposed in an exhaust pipe 81L connected to a cylinder deactivated during reduced cylinder operation is estimated. If the temperature is less than prescribed pre-heat necessary temperature, catalyst pre-heat operation is executed for raising temperature of the catalytic converter 82L by delaying ignition timing of the cylinder before execution of the reduced cylinder operation. Then, reduced cylinder operation is started after temperature of the catalytic converter 82L reaches pre-heat necessary temperature or higher. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
