<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spacer which can securely be attached to a workpiece thin in thickness. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The spacer includes: a head part 2; a hollow shaft part 3; and a caulking part 4 which is provided therebetween and has a diameter smaller than the head part. The spacer biases the head part 2 with the caulking part 4 and the shaft part 3 inserted into a prepared hole 6a of a thin-plate like workpiece 6 disposed on a die 7 having a recess 7a, press-fits the head part 2 in the workpiece 6, and also caulks the caulking part 4 by the die 7 to attach it. In the spacer, a length L1 from the bearing surface of the head part 2 to the tip of the caulking part 4 is configured to be the same as a length of the depth t3 of the recess 7a plus the thickness t1 of the workpiece 6 or slightly shorter than this.
