The invention relates to a method for the economic, high-quality production of the co-enzyme Q10 with a higher yield, wherein phototrophic microorganisms are cultivated in a culture medium in a bioreactor under standard conditions and the growth of the phototrophic microorganisms has an exponential and a stationary growth phase. The method comprises the following steps: (a) induction of oxidative stress by the co-incubation of stress-induced substances and/or the increase of the surface irradiation intensity in the bioreactor and/or (b) addition of oleate to the culture medium.
