Class 132(1) Exercising apparatus, attachable to the front legs of a bed or chair, comprises a crank-arm exercising device E adjustably mounted on tracks connected to a horizontal tube 2 turnably arranged on the top of two uprights 5, 5' connected to and adjusted to fit the chair or bed legs. The tube 2 revolves between collars 8, 8' in clamps 3, 3<SP>1</SP> attached to tubes telescopically slidable in tube 2 so that the width of the apparatus is adjustable. Clamps 3, 3<SP>1</SP> are adjustably mounted on the uprights 5, 5<SP>1</SP> which may be secured to the front legs of the chair by thonging or any other means. The exercising device is adjustably secured to tracks 1 by its base plate 9 which has pegs 16 which are inserted into holes 15, the whole combination being clamped tight by clamp plate 17 and screw' and wing-nut 18. The device E consists of two pedals or handles 13 secured to cranks 12 at opposite ends of a shaft 11 mounted in bearing holes in uprights 10 and rotatable against a frictional resistance. Pedals 13 are adjustable relative to cranks 12 by a nut and screw 14. A brake lining 21 which bears on a brake drum 27 is bonded to a brake-bar 20 supported on a rod 19 and secured to it by a collar pin 22 and washer 23. A bolt 24 passes through and supports the other end of bar 20 and a compression spring is provided surrounding bolt 24 between bar 20 and a nut 26 by which it may be tightened. The rod 19 and bolt 24 are mounted on plate 9.</p> |
