BATTERY CHECKING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR EXIT SIGN DEVICE

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for checking a battery of an exit lamp are provided to automatically check the state of a battery by using a microcomputer. CONSTITUTION: A constant voltage switch(SW) is connected to the rear of a constant voltage unit. The constant voltage switch supplies a DC voltage passing through the constant voltage unit to a lamp lighting unit(13) and a battery charger(14) in the on state. The constant voltage switch supplies battery power to the lamp lighting unit by blocking the DC voltage in case of a battery discharge test. A microcomputer(11) tests the charge and discharge of the battery by controlling the on and off of the constant voltage switch. The microcomputer determines the state of the battery or exit lamp by detecting the voltage of the battery or a lamp(15) in the charge and discharge test. A light emitting diode(LED3,LED4) displays the state of the battery or exit lamp as a blanker or a flickering period through the control of the microcomputer.
