PURPOSE: A speed-based prefetching method is provided to predict data blocks for prefetching based on the multimedia reproduction speed. CONSTITUTION: A speed-based prefetching method comprises the steps of: receiving a data block request(S210), checking whether the exists in a buffer cache and synchronously reading out the data block(S230), calculating the present reproduction speed of the data block(S250), determining whether the present play speed and the reproduction speed of prefetching are the same, predicting the location of the target data block for prefetching according to the determination result(S260), and asynchronously reading out the target data block(S270).
