<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extremely simple, inexpensive projection lens that is compatible with a projection display excellent in portability, has a wide angle so as to obtain a large image size even in short distance projection, and uses fewer lenses despite its high performance, and to provide a projection display using the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The projection lens includes in order from an enlarging side: a negative lens L<SB>1</SB>, the reducing side of which is concave; a negative lens L<SB>2</SB>, the reducing side of which is concave; a positive lens L<SB>3</SB>; a positive lens L<SB>4</SB>, the reducing side of which is convex; a negative lens L<SB>5</SB>; a positive lens L<SB>6</SB>, the reducing side of which is concave; and a positive lens L<SB>7</SB>, the reducing side of which is convex. The projection lens satisfies conditional formulae (1)-(4). (1): 2.5<β/S<10.0, (2): 20<S/OBJ<65, (3): 60°<2ω, and (4): FH<BH. In the formulae, β represents enlarging magnification, S represents the maximum length (inch) of an enlarging side image, OBJ represents an enlarging side projection distance (m), 2ω represents an enlarging side field angle, FH is the maximum effective luminous flux height of the most enlarging side lens face, and BH represents the maximum effective luminous flux height of the most reducing side lens face.
