Provided is a compound semiconductor thin film, such as a CIGS thin film, which has excellent conversion efficiency and can be used suitably in a solar cell, and which can be produced by non-vacuum processing conveniently and at low cost. Specifically disclosed is a process for producing a compound semiconductor thin film comprising a Group IB element, a Group IIIB element and a Group VIB element, which is characterized by comprising: a step of preparing a coating agent comprising compound particles each containing the Group IB element and the Group VIB element and compound particles each containing the Group IIIB element and the Group VIB element; a step of applying the coating agent to a substrate; and a heating step of sintering the compound particles contained in the coating agent applied on the substrate.
