Sealing catheter hub attachment with an integrally moulded elastomeric seal

A catheter hub attachment (52) with an inner elastomeric gasket (58) is disclosed. The gasket (58) serves to seal round a movable needle (14) with in the attachment (52). The attachment (52) has a generally rigid moulded plastic nose (54) having a proximal end and a distal end opening (67). The nose (54) has an internal passageway (56) communicating between the proximal end and the distal end opening (67). Through this passageway (56) a catheter insertion needle (14) can slide into and out of the opening (67). The nose (54) also has an exterior wall (57) sized to fit within a catheter hub (34) and contains the elastomeric inner gasket (58) which is completely proximal of the distal end opening (67) and integrally associated with the internal passageway (56) so as to be an integral part of the nose (54).
