<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein the capacity of a common converter becomes large at the time of controlling a motor becoming a driving load at the time of regular driving and a motor becoming a regenerative load, by an inverter with the common converter set to a DC power supply. <P>SOLUTION: A starting converter is disposed in addition to a common operation converter. A line is started by a starting converter when a line facility machine is started. When the regenerative load becomes a regular operation, the starting converter is switched to the operation converter. When a plurality of lines exist, the operation is sequentially started for every line. The starting converter is connected to each inverter of the line which is to be started at the time of starting each line so as to start the operation.
