PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming program with which waiting time can be reduced. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a forming means which forms an image; an adjustment means which performs one or more of adjustment to maintain the image quality of the image formed by the forming means and adjustment to protect a member used for maintaining the image quality of the image formed by the forming means; a first determination means which determines whether the adjustment means performs adjustment or not; and a performance control means which controls the adjustment means perform adjustment determined to be performed by the first determination means after controlling the formation means to form the image when it is determined that the first determination means performs adjustment.
