The present invention aims to increase the efficiency of a PDP by providing a material which is suitable for improving the secondary electron emission coefficient of the PDP. Specifically disclosed is a PDP (200) wherein a protective layer (7) is made of MgO, and an electron-emitting layer (20) is formed by spraying electron-emitting particles, which are composed of a crystalline compound, over the protective layer (7). The crystalline compound is composed of CaSnO, SrSnO, BaSnOor a solid solution wherein two or more of the aforementioned compounds are solid-solved with each other, such as (Ca, Sr)SnOor (Sr, Ba)SnO.
