The method involves providing a sewn or embroidered base material (2). A lattice structure (3) is sewn or embroidered in the base material. The lattice structure is provided with a surface that corresponds to a base surface of a three-dimensional textile structure (1) to be formed. Opposite points on the lattice structure are connected with threads like a star by sewing or embroidering to form an ellipsoid, hemispherical or spherical thread arrangement (5) under which the lattice structure is not visible. An independent claim is also included for a sewn or embroidered three-dimensional textile structure comprising a base material.
