Provided is a transmission device which can reduce the control signal information amount accompanying data as a communication object without lowering the reception quality. The transmission device limits MCS which can be selected upon data retransmission and reduces the control bit information amount indicating the MCS selection result. HARQ is employed between the transmission device and a reception device. Upon retransmission, the error correction ability of the reception device is improved. Accordingly, even if the MCS is not optimal upon data retransmission, lowering of the reception quality can be suppressed.
