<p>The method involves determining passage length of electromagnetic radiation based on measurement of scattering or transmission of the radiation in blood, after filling a transparent hose line e.g. venous blood line (6), with a liquid e.g. dialyzer liquid. Electromagnetic radiation of a preset wavelength is coupled with an LED in the hose line during the measurement. Intensity of the radiation passing via the hose line or the liquid is measured using a light detector. Concentration of blood components in blood is determined based on a correction factor corresponding to the measurement. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining concentration of a specific blood component in a blood-filled transparent hose line of an extracorporeal blood circuit of an extracorporeal blood treatment device.</p> |
