The present invention relates to an AV control technology for Blu-ray disk Java (BD-J) storage medium and particularly to an AV control technology for Blu-ray disk Java (BD-J) storage medium that provides a user interface screen wherein, when video contents are played from a storage medium such as a BD-ROM disc formatted with BD-J (Blu-ray disk Java), the playback of video content can be controlled by accessing the video-audio stream directly, without using a Java virtual machine. According to the invention, since a large quantity of supplementary information related to Java that has been stored in the BD-J storage medium in advance does not need to be read, fast playing of video content can be effectively carried out.
