PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus for efficiently reducing only image data which can be recreated. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes: a storage part 9 for storing image data; an instruction part for reducing prescribed image data stored in a storage part 9; a first discrimination part 3 for, when an instruction is made by an instruction part, discriminating whether there are slave image data being image data created by applying working processing to prescribed image data; a second discrimination part 3 for, when the slave image data are present, discriminating whether the working processing is invertible working processing or non-invertible working processing; a third discrimination part 3 for, when the slave image data are not present or when the working processing is the non-invertible working processing, discriminating whether there is a similar image which is similar to a prescribed image formed of the prescribed image data; and a control part 3 for controlling the deletion of the prescribed image data on the basis of the discrimination results of the first, second and third discrimination parts 3.
