The method involves storing a list with the individual characteristics of all tyre pressure monitors for at least two sets of wheels (2a-2d) for use on the vehicle from time to time, whereby those currently on the vehicle are marked in the list. Each time the vehicle is started the monitoring devices (4a-4d,10) currently fitted transmit their identifiers to the central unit (14), which compares them with the list and updates the markings if necessary.
