<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma jet spark plug with excellent thermal decline which suppresses progress of channeling. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The plasma jet spark plug includes an insulator 10 of a cylindrical shape, a central electrode 20 of a rod shape, and a ground electrode 30 of a plate-like shape, wherein: a shape of a small diameter section 15 of the insulator in a direction of an axis O is straight; an outer diameter of the central electrode 20 increases in the order of a point section 23, a step section 24, a leading end section 22, and a body section 21; a holding section 14 of the insulator houses the leading end section 22 of the central electrode; a cavity 60 is formed in the small diameter section 15 of the insulator by arranging the point section 23 of the central electrode posterior to the leading end of the insulator; and the ground electrode 30 has an opening 31 for communication between the cavity and open air.
