LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method thereof which obtains excellent display characteristics without raising manufacturing cost with respect to the liquid crystal display device to be used for a display part of an information device or the like, and the manufacturing method thereof.

SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: substrates 2 and 4 which are arranged opposite each other; a liquid crystal 6 which is sealed between the substrates 2 and 4 and is aligned almost vertically to the substrates when no voltage is applied; a pair of quarter-wave plates 50 and 51 which are arranged outside the substrates 2 and 4 respectively; a pair of polarizing plates 87 and 86 which are arranged outside the quarter-wave plates 51 and 50 respectively; and a pixel region which has a nearly flat reflecting surface and includes a reflection reflecting light incident from the side of the substrate 4 and a transmission area for transmitting light incident from the side of the substrate 2 to the side of the substrate 4.
