A METHOD OF CONTROLLING A FLUORESCENT LAMP AND A CONTROL SYSTEM THEREFOR

A method of controlling a fluorescent lamp is disclosed, which method is capable of implementing, adjustment or omitting a high-power start-up mode. The control is dependent on a sensor, which senses a temperature indicative of the temperature of the lamp, which sensor may preferably be integral with a controller and implemented in an integrated circuit. The adjustment may comprise changes to the current during a high-power start-up mode, or changes to duration of the mode. A single adjustment of multiple adjustments may be made. A control system operable according to such a method is also disclosed.
