THE PLASTIC BLASTING FOR THE USE OF REMOVAL A RUST ON THE SURFACE OF ARTIFACTS

PURPOSE: A method for removing foreign particles from the surface of cultural assets is provided to distribute and remove patina and harmful rust from the surface of metal cultural assets and to minimize surface damage such as scratches, chipping, and cracks by employing plastic blasting. CONSTITUTION: A method for removing foreign particles from the surface of cultural assets is as follows. The surface of the cultural assets is cleaned with alcohol and then dried sufficiently. Herein, the surface of the cultural assets is processed with thermosetting plastic powder at a blasting pressure of 0.5~2.0Kg/cm in order to minimize surface damage. The plastic powder has a hardness of 2.5~3.5 and a particle size of 0.044~4.76mm.
