<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spring end grinding device requiring a shorter time than ever before. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The spring end grinding device 10 performs surface grinding of end portions of a compressed coil spring 90, among end-face peripheral edge portions of a wire material 95 constituting the compressed coil spring 90, by linearly moving a grinding wheel 20 from a vertex P1 of the compressed coil spring 90, which is most projected in the direction of a winding axis, to a predetermined reference grinding position P2. At this time, the device calculates a desired linear motion speed V(X) of the grinding wheel 20 for setting the amount of grinding per unit time of the compressed coil spring 90 irrespective of the linear motion position of the grinding wheel 20 to a predetermined, constant, reference unit amount of grinding Qa, according to the linear motion position X of the grinding wheel 20, then linearly moves the grinding wheel 20 at the desired linear motion speed.
