PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for processing map display when attribute information of an image can not be used. SOLUTION: Whether positional information is recorded in attribute information included in an image data file corresponding to a display image is examined; when the positional information is recorded, a map including a position corresponding to the positional information is selected as a display map; when the positional information is not recorded in the attribute information of the display image or when the display image can not be obtained, operation history information of a user stored in a storage unit is analyzed to obtain display form information of past display maps recorded in the operation history information; and the form of the display map is determined by applying the obtained information.
