<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device for surely and easily releasing a low power mode at a coordinate detection part. <P>SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal display device (display device) 1 having a touch panel equipped with an optical sensor (coordinate detection part), the optical sensor is configured so as to be switched between a normal drive mode in which a coordinate detecting operation is performed and a low power mode in which the coordinate detecting operation is stopped, and the power consumption is reduced.
