A fishing hook (10) having a shank (16) leading to a bent portion (14) and then a barb (12); further comprising a bait attachment member (20) integral with or directly connected to the shank; the attachment member has second sharp point (22) and also retaining portion which prevents bait becoming prematurely detached from said attachment member. The retaining portion may comprise a barb distal from the second sharp point or a corkscrew shaped member.
