The circuit has a demagnetization branch provided with a demagnetization device, and a magnetic switch (X1) arranged in parallel to the demagnetization device. The magnetic switch is arranged in parallel to a discharge lamp (EL) that is arranged in parallel to the demagnetization device. A switching arm is connected to a primary terminal of the lamp through a self-inductor (L1). A voltage source (V1) is connected to the switching arm through a diode (D4) that is connected in series with the voltage source, where the voltage source is connected to a secondary terminal of the lamp. An independent claim is also included for a method for utilization of a lighting system.
