The unit (1) has a locking device, and a sensor locking mechanism whose stroke-mobile latching element i.e. ball (17), is pre-tensioned against a locking contour (4) and arranged on a gearshift shaft (2). A sensor system identifies a stroke movement of the latching element or a component (8) controlled by the latching element. Another locking device is pre-tensioned against another locking contour arranged on the gearshift shaft. The locking contours are associated with the locking device, so that the locking devices are utilized for switching force process.
